Data deletion
You do not need to ask anyone to delete your account and your data; you do it yourself on the site. This page explains how, what is deleted and what remains.
How to delete
- Open the Account page.
- Start the request in the Delete account section and confirm it.
Because you can also sign in to our other apps with the same account, deleting your account also deletes your account and coins there.
If you have a subscription bought in a store, deleting your account does not cancel it; cancel it first in that store's subscription settings.
What happens
Deletion is not immediate: it is scheduled 7 days ahead, and the date appears on the Account page. The wait protects against accidental deletion: until that day you can sign in and cancel the request with Keep my account.
What is deleted
- Your identity details, such as your email address, password and Google link
- Your year of birth and other profile details (except the record in the agreement evidence)
- Your sessions
- Any uploaded photos and videos still held, and your generations
- Your prompts
- Your support conversations
Your membership and usage measurement records are pseudonymised instead of deleted: their link to your email address and identity details is cut.
What remains
Not everything is deleted. What remains, and why:
- Financial records (purchases and coin movements): for the period required by tax and accounting law.
- Generation records: without the files and prompts, in pseudonymised form.
- Age confirmation records: in pseudonymised form.
- Agreement evidence: for 10 years from the date of acceptance, including your IP address, browser details, year of birth and the hash of your email address. It is needed as proof in a dispute about what you accepted.
- Security records: until their own periods run out (risk events 90 days, closed review cases 2 years). They hold not your IP address itself but an irreversible hash of it.
- Backups: a deleted account's data stays in backups until they expire (14 days for backups on the server, 30 days for encrypted off-site backups), then falls away on its own. Backups are used only for disaster recovery.
What expires on its own anyway
Even if you never delete your account, the following are cleared on a schedule:
- Photos and videos you upload: until the generation ends (2 hours at the latest); unused files 15 minutes.
- Generations: 30 days.
- Prompts: 30 days.
- Usage measurement: 90 days.
Get a copy first
Before deleting, you can request a copy of your data in the Download your data section of the Account page; once ready, the copy can be downloaded for 7 days. Download any generations you want to keep as well. A deleted account cannot be restored.
Is signing out enough
No. Signing out or clearing your browser data does not delete your account; your account remains. To delete it, follow the steps above.
If you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to your email address and want your account deleted, use the request form. Before acting we have to verify that the account is yours; we do not act on a request we cannot verify, because that would be a way to have someone else's account deleted.
